This is the first round both teams enter the competition. Felixstowe have had a great start to the season, having narrowingly missed out on promotion last season, winning 4 of their league games and into the 3rd qualifying round of the FA trophy. Mildenhall however have had a slower start to the season, winning 2 and drawing 1 league games and out of the fa cup and fa trophy. The first half was very equal for both teams, although Felixstowe dominated possession due to their home advantage. Felixstowe could have had a penalty early on, as one of their players went down with the ball in the box but this was dismissed and nothing came of it. Neither team had many chances on goal, but out of the few chances they had Felixstowe’s attempts on goal were better. Mildenhall played well when going forward however there was no one for them to pass to while in/around the box. Felixstowe scored in the 40th minute with a shot at a tight angle into the corner of the net, scored by Joshua Mayhew. The teams went in at half time with the score 1:0 to Felixstowe. The second half kicked off and Felixstowe were instantly the stronger team with multiple high quality chances with one coming in the 47th minute however this was ruled offside. Felixstowe scored their second in the 53rd minute from a great free kick straight through the defence and into the back of the net, scored by Cameron Forde-Brown. Felixstowe scored their third in the 57th minute by Charlie Warren who dribbled with the ball in the box past the defenders and shot into the corner of the goal. Felixstowe were very fast around the box and on the counter attack but Mildenhall were good at intercepting the ball from them. Mildenhall weren’t threatening enough in the box and their best parts of play were at the back and on the wings; they had a few chances but often took too long to think about it and Felixstowe’s defence were quick to get them away. Felixstowe scored again in the 92nd minute to get their 4th goal of the night, Samuel ford scored this when one on one with the keeper and chipped it over him to get it into the back of the net.

Mildenhall had a few chances from throw-ins and corners however couldn’t make the most of these. Basildon got a penalty in the 40th minute from one of their players going down in the box, Bartlett-Antwi took the penalty and scored it. This took the score to 2-1 going in at half time. Both teams started the second half equal and Mildehall were a lot better than in the first half however this didn’t compare to Basildon. Basildon got a 3rd goal in the 58th minute, scored by Esuka from inside the box despite Mildenhall’s defence all being in the box he still managed to get the shot in. Mildenhall were determined to get a goal and made several crosses into the box, but there was no one to get onto the end of them and for the majority of them the keeper ended up catching the ball. Basildon were still trying to get a few more goals and Mildenhall would get the ball from them and go on the counter attack, but for the majority of these the player with the ball would be upfield by themselves with no one to pass to and the ball would go back to the opposition. After lots of attempts to score Mildenhall managed to get a goal in the 82nd minute from Capel, which was from a free kick into the box that got headed around by a few players before landing at the feet of Capel and being shot into the corner of the goal. Throughout the game there were a lot of calls for handball from both teams but the majority of these got dismissed from the referees.

Mildenhall had a few good chances in the first half, many of which were from corners, however the goalkeeper was quick to save these and get the chance gone. The teams went in at half time 0-1 to Concord. The second half kicked off quickly and both teams were determined to get a goal, but Concord had a hold of the game due to their goal in the first half. Like the first half, Mildenhall had a few attempts on goal again but couldn’t take the chances quick enough. The defence for Mildenhall played a crucial role in the game and made sure that Concord couldn’t get another goal. Anisius Lewis was Concord’s main man for the majority of the game and made lots of goal scoring opportunities but Mildenhall’s goalkeeper was able to deny them a second goal. Both teams were quite equal, but Concord just came out on top. Overall Mildenhall played well but just weren’t able to find the back of the net unfortunately.

will ange postecoglou be sacked?

15/09/24 The 24/25 season has proved a difficult start for Tottenham, With a 1-1 draw to Leicester, a 4-0 win over Everton, a 2-1 loss to Newcastle and a 1-0 loss to Arsenal. Despite only being 4 games into the season, several fans are calling for the manager to be sacked because of this poor start. In the 4 games Tottenham have played, they have dominated possession and have had several goal scoring opportunities. Despite this, the team have struggled to find the back of the net; this has cost them massively and resulted in 1 draw and 2 losses. If you look at the game against Arsenal, you can see that Tottenham were the better team for the majority of the match and at one point had an open net to score. However, the players took too long to notice this and the chance was gone. A key problem Tottenham have is in defending set pieces. This isn’t a new problem and it was perhaps their biggest last season, conceding 18 goals since the beginning of that season (excluding penalties). This is the second most amount for a team that has been featured in both last season and this season. In spite of this, Postecoglou has been reluctant to get a set piece coach, stating several times that the team does not have a problem with set pieces. Although Postecoglou doesn’t think this is a problem, Arsenal’s winning goal over Tottenham was scored from a header, of which came from a corner. However, Postecoglou might not be to blame for the poor start; a few fans are blaming Tottenham’s owner, Daniel Levy, over the manager. Since Levy became chairman for the club, he has been reluctant to spend big money on players, with their most expensive signing being Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth for £64.3 million in the summer transfer window last season. Along with this, the club has signed multiple young talents; one of which is 22 year old Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest who cost the club £55 million. Although the young players the club have signed have been a success for their previous clubs, many fans believe that they aren’t entirely ready for Premier League football and that the club should have focused on signing ‘bigger and more experienced players’. Postecoglou has not been properly backed by the chairman to sign the players that fit his system; this has been the same with previous managers: Antonio Conte and Jose Mourino. Tottenham’s next four games are against: Coventry City in the EFL Cup, Brentford in the Premier League, FC Qarabag in the Europa League and Manchester United in the Premier League. These next four games will be crucial for Postecoglou and could potentially decide his future at the club
